About This Attraction
Built in 1906, this building was home to the Buffalo Corps of Rifle Volunteers. Under the command of General Sir Edward Brabant in 1876, the name Buffalo Corps of Rifle Volunteers was later changed to the Kafrarian Rifles (KRs) in 1883.
At the onset of the Second Boer War the regiment sent 300 men to several posts around the Eastern Cape and then Orange Free State Boer Republic.
A R12 million revamp of this building was completed in 2017 and it won the top gong in the Border-Kei Regional Award for Architecture.
