The Friendly N6 Buffalo Route will take you from the East London City Hall in the middle of the CBD, out into beautiful, unspoilt, rural Eastern Cape.
The Friendly N6 Buffalo self-drive route is populated with the rich history and culture of the region, which was once called home by struggle stalwarts such as Steve Biko and Donald Wood.
This sports mad city of East London is famous for being the home of SA boxing, and has produced many internationally acclaimed boxers including Nkosana “Happyboy” Mgxaji, to name but one. Also known as the home of motor-racing in South Africa, East London hosted the SA Grand Prix in 1934 and then 1936 to 1939. Racing was halted due to World War II, whereafter East London hosted the SA Grand Prix from 1960 – 1966.
The city offers visitors a wealth of hidden gems including a wide range of fun and exciting things to do for the whole family. From beautiful unspoilt beaches, historical sites and buildings to craft breweries, fun parks and family destinations, there is something for everyone to see and do on the Friendly N6 Buffalo Route.
The Friendly N6 Route is also the gateway to Stutterheim, which lies at the foot of the Amatola Mountains and is home to the second largest indigenous forest in South Africa.
