Kidd’s Beach is a popular holiday village in the Eastern Cape just 20km’s from East London and is fast becoming a new super suburb with exciting developments underway.
Situated on the warm Indian Ocean, this village attracts many tourists, especially during the warm summer months. The wide sandy beaches offer swimming, fishing and snorkelling, and dolphins are often spotted surfing the waves. The area also offers birding for nature lovers. For the active, there is hiking, yoga and a 5km Parkrun which is open to all fitness levels.
The village is fill of creatives and their work can be found at The Outpost in the village, or at the Kidd’s Beach Avalon Market, hosted on the first Sunday of every month. Here visitors get to enjoy live music, delicious food, craft beer or wine in a Nottingham Forest style setting.
For the hungry, visitors can grab a meal at The Beach Tea Room right on the oceans edge. The Waterberry is also children friendly and families can choose from a selection of light lunches while the children enjoy the outdoor playground with zipline, swings and sandpit. The Outpost also offers a variety of delicious homemade food, freshly baked goods and crafty gifts.
Just off the coast of Kidd’s Beach is the ‘unidentified site’ of the Rietbok Airplane crash which took place in 1967, killing all 25 people on board. This plane crash is currently the focus of many conspiracy theories, but to date the official reason for the crash has yet to be formally identified.
