About This Attraction
Malcomes Mgabela was an underground commander and one of the prominent Mkhonto Wesiszwe leaders for the Border and former Ciskei areas. Though he was not an educated person, he had a very powerful indigenous knowledge, in so much that he trained a number of cadres and also facilitated the skipping of the country by South African youth during the apartheid years. He was one of the most highly respected ANC commanders and his wife, Nomatshaka, was also a political activist. She had a child whilst she was incarcerated.
Malcomes is now honoured for his outstanding contribution. Ward 32 in Tyolomqa is named after him and another ANC branch in Amalinda is named after his wife, Nomatshaka.
